For many, the thought of self measuring for Highland dress
may seem quite daunting, but by following a few basic instructions
this need not cause concern.
There are two golden rules
- The most important
one being not to attempt to do this alone. It is essential
that you get someone else to do the measuring as it is
quite impossible to do this yourself with any degree of
accuracy.
Then, when you are confident that you have all the measurements,
repeat the process! As any tailor will tell you, "measure
twice, cut once!"
- The second golden
rule is to use a proper tailor's measuring tape. This
may sound obvious but you'd be amazed at the number of
folk who try to make do with a six inch ruler and a piece
of string! It never works
